Increasing the Forming Limits in Hole Flanging of Dual-Phase (DP) 1000 Steel Using Punch Rotation

چکیده
Dual-phase (DP) steels are widely used in sheet metal stamping. However, they typically characterized by low hole expansion ratios. Since flanging is very often applied to parts, solutions for improving flangeability needed. In this study, high-speed punch rotation of DP 1000 generate frictional heat and increase formability. The flanges were formed using a rotating at 8000 rev/min varying axial feeds. A maximum ratio (HER) 3.6 obtained the tests compared ~1.58 conventional flanging. high formability explained temperature recorded process. effects strain rate on examined tensile conducted different conditions. show an temperatures. Optical microscopy flange edge reveals change microstructure steel from characteristic dual phase martensitic structure with elongated grains.

SHEET ELECTROMAGNETIC FORMING USING CONVEX PUNCH INSTEAD OF CONVAVE DIE
High speed and absence of a precise control over pressure distribution confine sheet Electromagnetic Forming into a die to simple shapes having shallow depth. It is possible to reach a higher depth by using a convex punch instead of a concave die. In this study, sheet Electromagnetic Forming on a punch and sheet Electromagnetic Forming into a die are investigated. The electromagnetic part of th...
متن کاملProcess Planning and Metallurgical Issues for Laser Assisted Spin Forming of Dual Phase Automotive Steel
Laser assisted spin forming is used to process a galvanized Dual Phase steel with minimum damage to coating, microstructure and material properties. Effective increase in formability was achieved, but no evidence of recrystalization, neither drop in forming force was detected. The paper discusses the possible mechanism of formability improvement through the analysis by EBDS of laser assisted fo...
متن کاملOptimization of Processing Parameters for a Reverse Drawing–Flanging Combined Process for a B550CL High-Strength Steel Spoke Based on Grey Relational Analysis
Undesired wall thickness distribution and flanging cracking easily occur in reverse drawing–flanging combined processes of steel spokes when improper process parameters are used. Thus, based on GRA (grey relational analysis) and FEM (finite element method), a GRA model for a reverse drawing–flanging combined process for high strength steel B550CL spoke was established and validated. The results...

Post-forming Heat Treatment of Dual Phase Steel Components for Automotive Applications Using a Fluid Bed Furnace
A result of the increased usage of advanced high strength steels (AHSS) for stamped automotive body structures is an increase in press forces and tool wear, as well as component geometrical issues, such as springback and curl. This study investigates a methodology of forming a dual-phase steel component in a ‘softened’, or annealed, condition, then subsequently heat-treating and quenching the c...
